I consider myself a writer, editor, translator and instructor. But these days, I’m mostly retired! TicoLog? It’s a personal project that covers Costa Rican local governments and politics. Why? Well, I figured somebody in the world might like to know and understand how this tiny country operates at the local level, and, how its democratic system and institutions hold it all together.
A friend recently called me a citizen journalist. I must admit, I’ve grown to like the term. Problem is, I haven’t done much work in the field for a long time. Nonetheless, the idea of starting TicoLog stuck with me, and now I apply the expertise gained in journalism school, my years as a community newspaper editor and studies in political science to make TicoLog a reality.
